About

The Chicago Green Healthcare Initiative is a collaborative effort between the City of Chicago Department of Public Health, Health Care Without Harm, and the U.S. EPA that seeks to:

  • Improve patient, staff, and community health through persistent greenhouse gas reductions
  • Help foster knowledge sharing and collaboration among Chicago hospitals on energy efficiency and waste reduction projects
  • Support Chicago hospitals with specific, cost effective energy and waste reduction activities
  • Create engagement/support models to share with other hospitals and communities

To reach these goals the CGHI team provides participating hospitals with:

  • Streamlined access to energy efficiency and waste reduction best practice resources and incentives
  • Technical and green team support
  • Opportunities offered by our partners and allies
