Welcome to the Chicago Green Healthcare Initiative
The Chicago Green Health Care Initiative (CGHI) works to develop successful approaches to accelerate the implementation of energy conservation measures in hospitals. As hospitals improve their energy efficiency, patients, the environment, and the local community all benefit.
This website is primarily for CGHI participants, although others interested in sustainability in the healthcare sector will be interested in the successes of Chicago hospitals , and in what is discussed at our Peer Exchange Meetings.
If you would like to talk with us about participating in the Initiative, please enter your information on the Contact page.
How to Participate in CGHI
To be a CGHI participant you must be a healthcare institution in the Chicago area that is:
- Deeply concerned about protecting the public and environmental health of the communities you serve.
- Willing to exercise leadership in your community and throughout society by modeling ways to protect human health by minimizing green house gas emissions, and by striving for sustainable, climate neutral practices in your own operations.
- Interested in working to reduce the environmental impact of healthcare delivery activities.
- Committed to collaborating with your peers, and learning new ways to conserve natural resources and materials used in the delivery of healthcare.
